“Stripped for Parts does exactly what a good socially conscious documentary should do– identifies an urgent problem, explains how we got here, why it matters, and, most important, considers what we should do about it.”
— Victor Pickard, Professor of Media Policy and Political Economy, University of Pennsylvania
We are using Stripped for Parts to raise public awareness, ignite public discussion, and influence public policy.
The heart of our campaign is a series of screenings, networking, and call-to-action events in communities around the country. We are partnering with national and local groups & leaders at the forefront of this timely issue.
We have already organized more than a dozen public screenings in communities from New York City to Vancouver, WA; from Washington, DC to Lincoln, NE. We’ve engaged students in high schools, colleges and journalism schools and partnered with journalism nonprofits, the NewsGuild union, and activist organizations that are doing the work to save and rebuild local journalism. AND we are just getting started.
Here’s Our Plan for 2024-2025
- More community screenings to generate public awareness & discussions
- Partnerships with journalism schools, college programs, local newspapers, national & local news outlets, community groups, labor unions, and First Amendment organizations
- Press and publicity with local & national news outlets, including newspapers, magazines, and TV & radio stations

- Public policy outreach & screenings with legislatures across the country
- Distribution to high schools, colleges and journalism schools through New Day Films, a leading filmmaker-run educational distribution coop.
- Discussion Materials and a Take Action Guide to accompany screenings

“The public finally has a documentary that clearly shows what has happened, and is still happening, to local news, while giving hope that the numerous nonprofit newsrooms starting up around the nation may restore some of what is being lost.”
— Brant Houston, Journalism Dept, College of Media, U. of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
